Grease Trap Cleaning
What the service covers
Cleaning a grease trap means more than skimming the floating layer. The whole unit is emptied, the baffles and walls are scraped, and the inlet and outlet fittings are cleared so water can move through freely and grease can separate as designed.
The technician also looks for wear: cracked lids, loose gaskets, corroded baffles and signs that water is entering where it should not. Those notes go on the service record alongside the date and the volume removed.
Why it matters
Grease that escapes a full trap cools and hardens in sewer pipes, narrowing them until they block. Backups in a kitchen are costly, and blockages in public sewers can lead to questions from the local sewer authority. Regular cleaning keeps the trap working and gives you records to show it.
How often
The right interval depends on how much a kitchen fries, how many meals it serves and how large the trap is. A common rule is to service the unit before grease and solids reach about a quarter of its depth. Measuring at each visit is the most reliable way to set a schedule.
